Default Received my score! :) My step 2 CK exp

Im new to posting at this forum(however i have been following this forum for tips and guidance for some time now).

I recently got my Step 2 score and it was 254 I did not expect to get such a score as in my opinion I was ill prepared. I did not finish my Uworld and i couldnt change my deadline as my school end posting exam was near, I had to take step 2ck before that! (I was left with like 400 plus questions and that really bugged it as I saw that some of the people in the forum even did 2 rounds of Uworld). I did not do any NBME or any assessment as I knew it would not change things much as I can only take my test during that time.(and a low score will seriously destroy my motivation)

my study time was roughly 6 months but I had to go to my clerkship during the days leaving me with 3-6 hours daily to study. Toward the last 1month I did spent more time such as 6-8 hours daily. I use kaplan for all subjects except IM which I use MTB2. For psychiatry i study 1st aid for Psychiatry plus MTB2. I read the biostats and ethics stuff from kaplan at the start of my last month of my prep.

During my test day, my 1st block was mighty tough. I ended up roughly guessing the last 6 questions without really reading it thoroughly and was really demotivated by that. Things got better as I did other blocks. However I think my time management was really poor as I had to guess the last 2-3 questions from 3-4 blocks as I spent too much time on other questions. the reason i took so much time was because the questions are really not straightforward, they often left you with 2 likely answers that you really have to trust your gut to choose from them. Some questions(not alot) are so straightforward that I had to read it twice to make sure there was no trick in it. My point is, don't waste alot of time for each question, always stick to your time budget real tight.

I had alot of neuro questions about dementia, syncope and in my opinion it was tough. Psychi had alot of tough questions as well. However my Statistic questions were basic and very easy. I was happy as I only read basic stuffs on that. I had 1 paper based question and but no drug ad. I got 3 questions(paeds obs, medical) with vomiting and asked me to choose from the most likely acid based disturbances. I got 3 paeds developmental milestone questions(crazy!)

At the end of the day the learning point and message I would like to send is that: Do not be discouraged by not be able to follow exactly how other people prep in this forum. In the end, it is still about how much understanding of the principle that you have instead of the numbers of questions you have done.
I spent alot of time for each question in uworld and read the explanation with details. I wrote down learning points i got into the MTB and the corresponding kaplan notes so that i wont repeat the same mistakes for a particular topic.

hey thank you . I owe alot to this forum as well. No i did not take UWSA as well as my time was really limited. Would have taken it if there were time. I did not use first aid(except psychiatry but my psychiatry was among the subject that touches lower performance so you might not want to follow me). I use kaplan and MTB2 only. I did convert the kaplan videos into mp3 and listen to it when I drive or walk, I thk it helped me recall certain principles.

Hey, You're a brave man! Congratulations!
Left with 400 UW, no Kaplan, no self-assessments and still 254 !!!
if you wouldn't mind then couple questions I would like to ask:
1) What was your Step 1 Score?
2) How much was your average % in UW with 400 question left?

Thanks much!
