Unhappy I skipped all the drug and abstract questions

I've taken my test a few days ago & my test had a lot of long long questions in it that made time management a disaster so I had to leave the drug ad and abstract questions to the end hoping that I'd have time to solve them but unfortunately I hadn't , I ran out of time in all the blocks that had those questions so I left all of the drug ad questions unsolved which are about 7 questions or so , what scared the hell out of me that I've just spoken to a friend of mine who's done with all the steps & he told me that if I had left any questions unsolved I'm pretty much screwed , so guys please somebody tell me how bad is it gonna be? is it really gonna mess up my score real bad ?

by the way , I'm pretty sure that even if I had time to solve them , I was gonna screw up those questions anyway cause I always had a problem with them & couldn't figure out a way to study them , that's why I had no regrets about leaving them , but now I'm really worried about their impact on my score

Thumbs Down i dont think so...

I don't think i will have such a big impact... I don't think you had more than 5 questions in the whole exam, how is it that 5 questions out of over 300 Q's are going to be that important? and less if you were going to have them wrong anyway as you mentioned...
it will all only depend of how did you do it in the rest of the topics of the exam, OK? so please chill out and enjoy the rest of this beautiful month now that you're free

Default post exam synd

i think thi is called-"post exam mania"..where u start getting haunted by the exam q's and the what if's and the what if -nots ....n then u end up either hands joined in a prayer feverishly hoping that some DIVINE FORCE would intervene and change ur score for the better...or u end up exhausted and tired from all the fretting ,onyl to drift off to a restless sleep

beware....post exam mania is just as worse as pre exam tension...coz in the latter ...u dont know what the q would be n u think all the rarities and the specific points that ur brain refuses to remember would turn up onthe exam ..where as the post exam synd is where u now know the q but unsure of what u answered and now u agonise over the results in place of the q
ahhhhh..........

actually I've lost my USMLE virginity to step 2 , which I think was a big mistake , cause step 2 would have been much easier & would have taken less time to to finish if I had had taken step 1 first , since I had spent a long time studying some step 1 stuff that I thought I needed in step 2 like ECG , pathophysiology , anatomy , pharma .........etc.
Right now I really can't think about anything else but the result , but if I'm gonna take step 1 next which is more probable , I guess I'm not gonna do it more differently than CK , I guess I'm gonna watch kaplan videos , read Kaplan notes except for pathology I'm gonna use Goljan , solve UW but this time I'm gonna take Kaplan QBank as well, take a lot of notes as I always do & I guess that will be it .
what about you , have you taken any other steps & what's the plan ?

If you want to apply to 2013 match, get rid of cs first and then take your time to study for step 1, remember there's a period in 2012 summer where cs test center are going to be closed

if you can "wait" until 2014 match i see no problem, it can be even better if you're a fresh graduate, because you will get the chance to take it easier and without pressure for the rest of the steps, you will have more time to gather research and/or USCE, and you can even get the chance to take step 3

but i think you can apply for the 2013 match, a friend of mine took his step 1 in dec 2010, cs in june this year and step 2ck this september, and he got a prematch.

about the materials, i knowwwww its soooo hard to begin! especially because cs is such a different format... try buying FA for step 2cs, thats the gold standard book, and... FIND a partner <--- look i didnt say "try to find", i said "find" a partner wherever he/she is!

good luck!

lol...by 2013 they would remove the old in my img status n put "older".........(actually i wanted to say ancient!!!!but culd not bring myself so say that)).....this whole step journey seems crazy to me at times....wondering at every setp...would i be able to make it ??.....maybe i should give the mccqe as well...just in case..i heard the prep needed is nearly the same n why put all the eggs in one basket
hmm......so 2 things are a must ...fa and an sp......getting fa for cs should not be hard...getting an sp might be harder ....
one more thing ....any idea on how approx the prep time takes..plus how early we need to apply to the centre for cs and is it better to get the visa before or after applying for cs??
by the way where do u stand??cococat??in ur journey??

I have heard CS takes 2-3 weeks to prepare provided you have a partner. If you are planning to apply for CS and you need a visa too then first apply for your CS since you will be requiring a Visa Letter from the ECFMG for your visa processing. Then after you get your Visa Letter, apply for the US B1/B2 visa.

Btw, where are you in your CK prep?? Can someone here guide me if Uworld + MTB-CK + IM videos + Kaplan Qbank suffice for the CK. I have just 3 months to prepare. I plan to take the exam in April and my CS in May.

the time will always depend of yourself and how familiar are you with american system... americans (for example) just read the first aid for a week, i dont know your status but in your case, even if you've never been in america, it should not take more than 2months...

once you decide when do you want your cs hurry up and choose your date... i gotta tell you that most dates until april 6th are already taken, and you can randomly find one spot in dec, jan or february if someone cancels... i wanted my exam to be on march 22nd but only march 15th was available :s... meanwhile if your date is so late like mine is... you can start reading for your step 1 and when its 2 weeks-1month-2months before cs, you start your preparation, i guess that can give you some "extra" time to find a partner

thats what im doing right now, im reading for step2ck and will begin my cs preparation on february 29th , that means i will have to interrupt my ck preparation, although im not sure, i think i can take ck in middle february, lets see what happens

that seems like a good plan Mm....hope u r able to wrap it all in 3 mnths....the q bank itself takes quite a lot of time.....so with this schedule u would need 10-12 hrs per day ..to finish it all...of course if u r a recent graduate ...u would beable to do it quicker ....it is better to wrap up what u have read rather than gathering new info till the end .......best of luck to u
