Medicolegal and Ethics What is advance directive?

I knew that attorney is the person who is talking with the voice of the patient when the patient is incompetent
the living will is weaker and it is the patient wishes
in the middle the advance directive which can be written or even oral?
so how does it differ?

Power of attorney and living wills are both types of advance directive.

  • Living Will - lets people know what you would want in certain situations, i.e. spells out DNR, DNI orders, etc.
  • Power of Attorney - designates a specific person as trustworthy to make medical decisions if you are incapacitated
