Default Best way to study for Step 2 in 1-2 months?

Just started studying for Step 2 CK. After I did some research, I'm currently using/plan on using:

Uworld
MTB2
All NBME's
All UWSA's
Prometric Practice Test

I know it looks pretty simple but these seem the most high yield. What do you guys think? I thought of using Kaplan Lecture Notes as well, but total material is 1200 pages, which seems like too much haha. I will read those too if necessary, after I take my first NBME.

I heard that people use MTB 3 as well. How does it compare to MTB 2 though? Like wouldn't MTB 2 be enough, considering its made specifically for Step 2CK?

If you have time, you should do Kaplan I think. Most people recommend it, but since I'm trying to finish my studying ASAP, I'm skipping it for now. And technically, MTB is made by Kaplan so I feel its just a shortened version of it, right? But, since I haven't used the Kaplan Lecture Notes myself, I don't know if you should take my word for it necessarily. I'm not sure how much they help for the exam, but they might be great!

What I said so far is my study plan. To just review those things that I mentioned. Along the way, if need be, I'll add Kaplan or MTB 3 or maybe another Qbank.. based on how my scores are.

I'm not sure if I can do it in 2 months, but I'm definitely going to try because people have done it in that timespan. How long are you planning on studying for Step 2CK? And what is your study plan?

I am planning to do it in 4 months and am using mtb 2 for internal med and 3 for rest of subjects.
I watched kaplan videos for nephrology and found them somewhat similar to mtb,so i might skip kaplan.
U already started studying??

Default Step 2 CK study plan

Hi guys!

I recently took my USMLE Step 2 CK after 6 weeks study in June 2015. One of the best advice I can give you is Be thorough with UWORLD Qbank. That should be your primary resource and try to get the maximum out of it. As to MTB2, I had gotten a copy from my friend but after going through a few pages I decided not to use it. It might be good for a good review of everything but its up to you.
I have not used any Kaplan materials but I do no think the output is going to be worthwhile considering the time and effort you need, to go through it.

Do an NBME before you start and see where your scores are. My starting NBME score at the end of April was equivalent to 193 which was not even a passing score. I focused on UWORLD questions for the next four weeks and my NBME rose to 240 in the beginning of June. Before the exam on June 22nd, I got enough time to finish UWORLD in Timed mode once and to have a quick second look.

I do not advice doing questions in mixed mode because it makes it difficult to properly review. Go system wise and/or subject wise. Be systematic and allot time wisely depending on your strengths and weaknesses. I went in this order: OBGyn, Psychiatry, Surgery,Pediatrics, Biostatistics, and finally Medicine. Try to do the Medicine questions towards the later half because that way you will remember more of it. Review even the subjects you scored really well in UWORLD. More than any review book, practicing questions is what matters the most. Learn to manage time well because its crucial for the exam.

So be a master of UWORLD. Do all NBMEs, UWSA and the practise test available online at usmle.org. My actual USMLE Step 2 CK score is 259 and these are the only resources I used.

Good luckKeep going...

You did NBMEs online or offline?
If offline can you please tell me if you have answers, different answers from what all people have.
Because many of them are incorrect...

Hi,
I did them online. I do not have the answers but I found the right answers by comparing my wrong ones with that of my friend's. Fortunately we made different questions wrong. Sorry.
