Default I have a similar situation, my ck score was 255

Hey, I would like to share my experience with you. Yesterday I got my score back and passed!

Step 2 CK real deal: 255.

NBME Form 4 - 2 months prior to the exam: 540 (246 equivalent)

NBME Form 7 - 2 weeks prior to the exam: 500 (237 equivalent)

The real exam was much tougher than the Kaplan and UWorld QBanks, the questions were extremely long, I had to rush during the last 5-6 questions in each block.

I feel very fortunate to have passed with this score. In my mind, what counts is to thoroughly study the answers in the Qbanks. I did Kaplan videos and classroom anywhere lessons.

Since I work full time, my studies took place in the evening, 4-5 hours from 7 PM through midnight, weekends 8-10 hours each day.

My strategy was to systematically go through all the Kaplan videos, then the live online course. Started Q&A with Kaplan QBank early on answering in tied mode and then thoroughly studying every single answer. At first, it took me about 3-4 days to finish analysis of one 44-question long qbank block, down the road the process accelerated once I got familiar with concepts, it becomes a bit repetitive and it's about dissecting each concept into details. At the end I was able to take and review 2 qbank blocks on each weekend day (about 6 hours per block analysis).

I did not set a date for exam until I realized that the NBME was in pass range, so after my first nbme I studied for a further 2 months. For step 2 ck it took me about 8 months to be ready (with cs inbetween).

For step 1 I had the same strategy, studied for about 11 months (in parallel to full time work) and scored 244.

My wife didn't divorce me and my kids seem to still love me, but this USMLE process has taken a toll.

Do exercise (I jogged daily), take time off (one day without studies, I took Fridays in the afternoon off to spend time with my family).

Hope this helps. If you want further experiences, I will be glad to Skype.
