Default scores

did you both do the usmleworld assessment? What is graph bars show on your nbme for weak areas, is it consistent for both nbme's? I would say if your knowledge is good, could be possible its test taking concern. Also, did you both already complete step 1? You can improve foundations.

Try other resources like MTB2 and 3 or FIRST AID.

I'm in the same situation.

I think having too much variability in scores are dangerous. It means that we have no full grasp on study material.

I will do it from scratch. Do the whole Kaplan course then repeat UWorld

Times have changed. You have to do step 1 studying and exam first. The new exams for ck and step 3 include some basic science questions. MTB3 has blurbs for basic science correlation. I would go for step 1 first. Don't cheat thinking ck is easier. Go over basics really well thru step 1 books, take step 1 and do it in order.

Step 2 CK is all about UWorld. Don't focus so much on books, focus on questions.

I totally agree with you, but i wasted more than 4 months over step2 . if i turn back and do step 1 now,i'm very sure i will forget everything from these preparation and it will be a total waste of time. I skipped step 1 because in middle eastern countries , we don't need it yet. If i continue with this step 2, is there anything i can pullout from step 1?

You can do goljan lectures, goljan book, then do first aid step 1. You dont need step 1 anat, histo for step 2. You need proper foundation in patho, phys, micro/iummno, pharma. I would build a foundation with goljan first then review micro/immuno first aid. Then continue with ck material. It will give you a base to do CK questions. The test has changed my friend, do not take advice from people who took test long ago. Now they are incorportating basic science material. Good luck!

Default advice

My advice is to go through goljan, but when you actually take step 1 do DIT few times. But for now doing goljan will give you enough foundation because he incorporates all subjects into his pathology lectures and book. He brings things together. Dont do too many sources, you will then not know one really well, this will cause stress. All the best!
