Default the management of fat embolism

Hi all:

If we suspect patients coming in with fat embolism due to recent history of hip fracture, according to kaplan ck lecture notes, the treatment is supportive. However, i was wondering, before we confirm it is fat embolism, when the patient comes in, we still need to give oxygen and heparin, and do the same diagnostic tests just like the managements of leg venous pulmonary embolism?
