Kaplan Medical Kaplan 6 Weeks Live CK Course | Center-Prep 4 months

Has anyone taken it, and can shed some light on their schedule? And if its effective for a 5-6 month step2 CK prep?

I'm planning to take the test in June first week, and then give off the step2 CS around july. So its a race against time!!

The NYC Course starts around the end of February, goes on for about a month and half.

Worth the money? (~4700 USD) for 4 months (Feb-June; NYC course starts Feb 29-April 24, 2016)

Also, I plan to combine it with the center-prep option

Would anyone be nice, to briefly review that as well? How is the study environment, timings, etc?

Kaplan's website just has the same bullets repeating over and over again.
There is an October discount, so I want to apply for next years class before it gets over!

Thanks In advance!!

I'm considering it as an alternative to the online class-room anywhere course. I dont want to be munching on donuts and pizza, with a passive lecture.
Still waiting for something positive on the live-lectures!

the course is very shallow in depth. I didnt like faculty except the guy who discussed surgery. it didnt improve my nbme score more than 5

The costumer service is also terrible.

The books they provide are really terribly written. You can read and memorize everything there but you will not be able to answer the questions.

I have done mtb 2 and uworld for 3 months and improved my nbme more than 20 pts.

So if you want to waste your money , go for it. But I wouldnt let these douchebags steal my money( Although i did unfortunately

Kaplan Medical

I get your point. It is an expensive course. The medical advisor took a week to get back to me and she still has not answered to all my queries. Especially what features the center prep has, regarding the study atmosphere etc. she just emphasized 'peer discussion', although I don't know what peer discussion really means. :

The classroom anywhere course is equally expensive. The live course is 1k $ more.

My options to study for the step are limited. I want to go with a time - tested study technique. From these forums, I can understand that KAPLAN LN and MTB, clubbed with one or two q-banks : are solid and time tested.

Anyway now I'm a littl confused. Still trying to gather more information about Kaplan's CK course. I will be leaving everything behind in my country, (out of my comfort zone too) to pursue this. So have to really put some thought into it.

I'm giving the step one in December. But these sorta stuff really need some planning ahead.

which center did you prep in? Was it crammed or spacious? How are the study areas/ self study areas? Decent?

Thanks

if you want to study from kaplan resources( i highly doubt kaplan makes any diffference in the exam) you can buy the classroom anywhere course from some of the guys in this forum. They sell it under 150 bucks. So that way you dont have to rely on their shitty schedule and also you can skip some terrible teachers.

But im telling you. The most important things for this exam is uworld uworld uworld. Their questions are not that good but their explanations are indispensible. It has all what you need for this exam.

Baris, what was so shallow about the course? I thought kaplan is supposed to be very in-depth and detailed? I thought they would teach you on how to answer the mcq's?

The lecture notes you said are not written well? I am assuming you finished all the kaplan course and lecture notes though no?

With mtb 2, did you use mtb 3? What kind of assessment scores are you seeing from the 20 pt improvement?

Sorry for all the questions. Was just thinking of it as a backup plan to do and some other old img friends I know who are not on the forum wanted to know how to make use of their time better.

Live course is shallow. I dont know classroom anywhere course tho. I watched couple of internal medicine video of kaplan and i have to say it was terrible( Terrible for this exam dont get me wrong) Step 2 CK is all about management. Most questions will ask what the best or initial test is? Or what is the next step to do. So you can know everything about MYastenia Gravis For example but if you dont know what to do when pt comes with myastenia crisis then usmle will punish you. Kaplan course does good job explaining the concept but very bad job about management of the patient.

Maybe you have to watch couple of video to understand wha im saying. But for this exam MTB2 MTB3 and uworld is all you need for 260+
