Question Waiting for Step 2 ck Result. 4 weeks of deep reflection

This is addressed to everyone who has given Step 2 ck and has similar questions and hopefully answers.

Firstly why is there a wait of 4 weeks. . .? is it to view video footage of when we give the exam as stated by many or something else?

Secondly there were definitely not 355 questions in my exam, there were less. Any idea why the score reporting is out of 355. Are some questions worth more marks or is it some complex scoring system entirely?

Is there anyone who missed questions because of lack of time per block . . .and managed to get a score of 240+?
(I missed 3 questions)

Is it ok to have an average Step 2 ck result if you have a really good Step 1 result. ( I'm an international medical student in my final year. Have appeared for Step 2CK first. Have not given Step 1 yet. . .Please do not reprimand me for this. Circumstances were not convenient enough for me to follow the ideal order)

And lastly, Is there anyone who didn't score well in the NBME 4 and 6 but still managed to get 240+?

Any reasonable reply would be highly appreciated.

All the best to everyone who is appearing for USMLE or awaiting the results

Hey, Adjustment disorder @

Why 355 question? 8 blocks 8 x 44 = 352

3 questions missed - were they too long? recently did UWSA - there were even 2 line questions?
How does the real exam look like ?

Have did clinical mastery series ?

Thanks

The last block had only 20 questions.

The questions are in fact toooooooo long. And I always seemed to get stuck on 2 options. The real thing is neither comparable to UWorld nor NBME, as far as length of the question is concerned. There's usually a lot of irrelevant information in the question that you are expected to know is not going to help you towards the answer but then there could also be that occasional point or so that holds the key. . .
I don't mean to discourage you and I don't know how I've done yet. . . but that's what it seemed like.

If I get a good score I'll let you know what I did right but if I don't, which is by the way what I'm expecting. . . you'll probably not hear from me after this Wednesday.

I basically couldn't attempt the last question at the end of 3 blocks. So if I really had to give you some advice from experience then I'd say, learn to complete the Uworld tests at least 5 to 7 minutes before times up. That should give you the ability to read at the speed of lightening in the exam.

Its interesting how despite posting questions I seem to have invited more questions instead of answers.

Anyways, I'm not a spoiled sport so here goes.

UWSA - 1 month before exam - 238
NBME - 1 week before exam - 225

My expectations for 240+ after this are quite hopeless I know, but I'm basically praying for a miracle

I used UWorld, MTB 3 and Step up to Medicine.

I think you should look for other material as well though because this wasn't adequate for the actual thing. The new question pool is much harder and the NBME's are not predictive for it, not unless they are updated soon.

Try videos and Kaplan if you want or read other threads of people who scored well after 13 July this year to see what could be better material.

Best of Luck. Sorry if I'm not helpful but I'm not happy with my performance and therefore don't want to confidently give you wrong advice

Hey, man - honestly I have worried about you, I thought you have deleted your account, because I could not send you a personal message. I hope you did not too bad, if it is above 220 - then don't worry there is ton of Residency Programs to accept you. Would you mind to us - how much you got. Anyway, none of us know you in person. How test questions look like - why you did MTB 3 instead of MTB 2?

I got 235.

I performed poorly in Psychiatry apparently.

Test questions are long with a lot of misleading points. The key lies in identifying relevant information much like an actual doctor sitting in an actual clinic. Also work on time management, it cannot be stressed enough times.

A lot of pure common sense will be required on test day, be calm and composed.

Do UWorld well and read explanations to understand concepts.

When people say MTB 2/3 are they talking about edition or something else because I don't see any other number on my book? I was talking about 3rd edition.

Best of luck

Men, congratulations - you took my anxiety off - 235 is a good score. Do you really think everybody gets 280? You are not the only person who got 235. 68% of people in 1 SD range. I don't know exactly, but it shouldn't be less than national average. MTB 3 - I have understood MTB for Step 3. Now, it is clear. By the way did you do Clinical Mastery Series and Kaplan CK 8 hour self-assessments. What's about CK mock exam on USMLE.org ? Don't be unthankful. 235 is a really good score. Thanks much - for encouraging and your advice.

Up until June 30 2015 mean score was 240. Its written in my score report so I think that should be reliable enough!!!

There is some talk about a drop in average this year because the new question pool is tougher but. . . I'm not an optimist. Besides I don't think it will be long before UWorld and NBME are updated.

I haven't done the Kaplan CK 8 hour exam because I've heard its not very predictive score-wise but I could be wrong. The experience though should be useful.
I haven't unfortunately done Clinical Master Series either.

Go to the usmle site. They provide a sample test with about 4 blocks. If anything this was close to the real paper I think this was because I distinctly remember a lot of the concepts(not questions) on the mock test being asked in my exam. Don't remember questions themselves though.
