Img in need of advice
I have just completed step 1 in the past week and I am looking to try and move onto step 2. I have just started 2ck and have realised it is a lot harder than I thought it would be. My initial plan was to get it done by April this year but i now understand the utter futility of doing this considering i have finals to do here as well (in the UK). I tried doing 13 hour revision sessions but now i am just getting ill and am missing on clinical experience which may mean i fail my attachments. I have therefore decided to focus on 2cs and do 2ck slowly in the background for the next few months. In june i would like to do 2cs (the only reason why i give myself so much time is because the exam costs a lot more for us than for you guys!) and then i go to my elective. Unfortunately i was unable to get an elective in the USA so i am going to australia. There i will continue 2ck in the background for 4-5 hours a day until i get back. Then I will start my final year and i will continue to work slowly until i finish some more exams in december. From there, the hardcore revision will start (no exams until june). I will hopefully have it all done by early 2017.
This brings me to my question. What on earth do i do after that? I will finish my clinical training here in the UK and i could potentially start working here for a year before I apply for residency. however, i have no US experience. Would it be better for me to step out for 1 year and try and get some experience in the US before I apply for residency? the only issue there is money. I will miss out on a year's salary and will have no means of income. I will have plenty of references from here but none from the US. I don't want to sound like a pretentious person but I do study at the University of Cambridge. Surely that should lend weight to my application seeing as it is prestigious?
I would really appreciate some direction because right now i am clueless and quite frankly scared of what to do next.
