I disagree GESTATTIONAL DM mgmt!

Hey GUYS! i have a q:

AFI and NST is required for mothers w/ GDM at 32 weeks if they have been treated w/ insulin, HTN..etc.

I know this may be a trivial question, but why at 32 weeks? AFI to determine polyhydramnios? NST to determine overall well being of fetus? I guess i'm trying to understand the specific reasons why..

If someone could help, would be awesome!

Default hey

to prevent fetal demise or IUGR. All of these conditions (especially those that cause uteroplacental insufficiency) place the fetus potentially at significant harm. So weekly stress tests are typically done in the 3rd trimester (usually beginning at 32 weeks)
