Drug Giardia prophylaxis

what is giardia chemo prophylaxis?..and in pregnency and immunocmpromised?.
how to manage giardiasis in pregnency??

can any one plz answer this?

i dont read abt prophylaxis
but abt ttt
metronidazole in dose of 25/30mg/kg for 5 to 7 day
or tinidaole for 3 days
1st drug is saFE in pregnancy cat(b)
even 1st trimester but better to avoid .

For treatment we give metronidazole for 3 days...but i was wondering what is prophylaxis if a person have to visit a endemmic area....

and what prophylaxis and vaccines we should give if a person have to visit developing country..i know one is malaria,...??

I dont think there is prophylaxis for giardiasis!
