Heart Stable Angina; Next Step?

A 66-year-old woman sees her physician complaining of chest pain. The pain is sharp, substernal, occurs with exertion, and is relieved with rest. The pain lasts 2 to 3 minutes. She has hypertension treated with a diuretic. She is a nonsmoker with no family history of heart attack or stroke. A resting electrocardiogram shows no ST elevation, ST depression, or other abnormal findings. Which of the following is the next step in management of this patient’s condition?

A. Obtain a thallium exercise stress test
B. Obtain an echocardiogram
C. Obtain an exercise stress test
D. Obtain serum cholesterol, serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), high-density lipoprotein, and C-reactive protein levels
E. Obtain serum LDH isoenzymes and creatine kinase myocardial band (CK-MB) fraction levels
