Smile What Robinssmc "think" about the step 2 CK

These are assumptions and do no have any "statistical significance" (p>>0.05)!

I think:

1. The exam is easier than step 1
2. The questions are easier than both Kaplan and UW
3. The questions are very similar to Kaplan Qbook questions
4. The time management is easier than step 1
5. Three to four questions on drug advertisement are not even doable
6. The prep for CK is lot fun than step 1 (needs less time)
7. In each block, at least 60% questions are pretty straight-forward (very much doable)
8. You will understand the questions if you know the basic concepts
9. The questions rely on "buzzwords"/ clue words
10 I think I would "Pass" the exam

P.S: very anxious about the result. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for sharing your exam experience...its very useful...
What do u think about q length?
what about time management...were u able to finish them under time and how much time was left for u to review them?
As u have finished the exam what would u advice for good last month strategy?
do u think kaplan should be included for last month review ?
what topic should be stressed or which book should be good to cover for step 1 content for step2 in short time effectively?
what was your nbme score ?
too many q but please reply when u are free...thanks..

Definitely, use the Kaplan Qbook. I used an older version (probably, 2009 edition)- it does not matter. I found the Qbook question styles similar to the exam questions. I also used MTB 3! Here is the reason why: Halfway through my prep, I found out that I am weaker in management type questions, so I just used MTB 3 for that and I will say it is a great book for CK prep as well. The exam is very much doable in 4 months time provided that you are doing it right after step 1 and your knowledge base has been "refilled" by some "quick" reading of the Kaplan lecture notes.

Thank you so much for your wishes. God bless.

Hey, I think the question-length is fair. You would find 6-8 questions per block that are super long, riddled by unnecessary detail. But for most part- they are neither too long, nor too short.

You should be able to finish it on time and still have probably 3 minutes to spare. However, the blocks that would have drug add questions, you would barely finish them. I missed three Qs (just answered blindly) because I didn't have time in 1 block.

In the last month, just reread whatever you read before. The exam is about retaining knowledge- so reviewing your own notes plus non-rigorous Qbook solving will help. If you can, use the iPad to do a few board-style Question apps in your leisure time: it would help.

Kaplan Qbook is good for the last month.

For step 1 material, read your own step 1 notes. And, perhaps the micro-pathology section of FA. Don't panic on step 1 materials, you should be fine.

Again, I am awaiting result. So tense right now

I think you could make it a habit of looking at the bottom of the long questions to get a hold of what is being asked. Then, skim through the findings and try to correlate any positive finding with an assumed diagnosis, as you are reading. If you keep your head cool and think for about 30 seconds- you should get it. If not, try eliminating choices to narrow your options. Most of the time, it worked for me. I used MTB3 for IM and Psychiatry.

I would say: 3 months is a bit tight for CK. But it depends. As you are aiming for a 3 months prep, I assume you have already developed a sound knowledge base. If that is the case, you could start with UW- take notes as you go along. Then, take NBME- that should inform you where you stand. Kaplan LN should be your main book, with MTB3 for management Qs and iPad apps to sharpen your skills.
