Can anyone tell me if 28 days is excessively long when reading Kaplan LN for the first time along with videos?

I've managed to finish Peds in about 9 days (videos too), so i'm just trying to get a time line set.

Also, is starting MTB (subject wise), to review after each subject a good way to approach?

I need to optimize my studying...

i think 9 days is a little long, i did peds in 5 days and all videos.. But if you learned effectively during those 9 days. Then your the one who wins! Always remember. Quality is way more important than quantity.

Thanks bro!

Both quality and quality seem to be the victim of a lack of time haha.. Just trying to keep at pace to get scores in on time.

HiFrom my experience in step1 , I got 2 questions in real exam (step1) very closely realted to ones in Kap Qbank( online). Unfortunately,Did not find the same topic anywhere before. One was probably related to rise in VEGF blood levels much before bFGF during continuos exercise for long.Other question I dont remember.I think it cant be useless. If time and money permits after uworld one can go for it as doing more and more questions is always better choice.

Sorry was busy for few days.

One thing which i will tell for sure is it helps in grasping Kaplan and makes you orient with exam style of questions.

From my step 1 days i am fan of Kaplan Qbank even i feel that my step 1 exam had so many questions in physiology which resembled to Kaplan.

Kaplan Qbank has lots of new info and you wont believe that i have to add more info into my MTB 2 than i used to add into FA from step 1 Kaplan Qbank.

But then there are some double sword questions which will make you confused and there are few mistakes too.

All in all i feel its good to use as your 1st bank

I dont know whether the plan i told will be executed well in 10 days or not ......may be it take time, so I cannot give u 10 days guarantee .....lol

actually I dont know about FA.....many say FA is not needed for step 2......usually KLN+MTB+qbank is sufficient.......but if u want to use FA and u have time, its ur wish......may be It can add few more points to ur knowledge....

obs gynae has 270 pages, do 27 pages a day.....u will finish it in 10 days .....

In total I usually put in about 8 hours (no breaks, I find that I study best with minimal interruptions so I study constantly, sometimes terrible idea!).

If you have taken Step 1 before or you are a recent grad then you're basics will be good so you might be able to get through it a bit faster. I usually aim to finish about 40 pages a day and dont stop until I do so.

Are you using KLN only or are you doing other things on the side?

If you are studying fulltime, then 27 pages is not alot! So you should be able to get through it.

But then as JJtheMD stated, quality over quantity.

I wanted to ask you guys:

MTB is very summarized compared to KLN, and so it doesn't have nearly as much in it.

Ex. Peds in KLN covers many more topics that aren't covered in MTB peds section.

Are those not high yield or how do they work?

m using only KLN for now......I can only do 20 pages a day.....

I have no confidence regarding my basics , I keep forgetting them at the time of need and they come to my mind when not needed......

Its okay! You'll be fine.. just push yourself like you did for Step 1 to study more and more until you reach a plateau for the day.

well this was a puzzle for me for quiet a long time too, but heres wat i figured out.. Kaplan LN u need minimum of 2 reads must. 3 if ur weak in few subjects. MTB is jus a superficial revw book. wen u quickly want to go thru wats wat for the best next step. tho Cardio is really good in MTB tho! i like it better than Kaplan. as in once ur done with understading wats wat in kaplan. so ya MTB cant be ignored even tho it aint as detailed as Kaplan LN. jus keep doing questions and make additions/notes in ur MTB. that shud sufice in the end.

okay guys i have a quick question, i hav subcribed to kaplan qbank for amonth. and i was/am only planning to do IM questions. but i guess i hav time to cover a few other subjects frm there, before i start UW. so which subject u think is a must do from Kaplan Qbank besides IM?
i heard surgery, obs gynae and paeds are covered v well in uw!! is it so?
wat abt psych?? they always say we need more practice with drug abstract questions.. is kaplaqbank suffiecnt for the extra practice?

MTB is jus a superficial revw book. wen u quickly want to go thru wats wat for the best next step. tho Cardio is really good in MTB tho! i like it better than Kaplan. as in once ur done with understading wats wat in kaplan. so ya MTB cant be ignored even tho it aint as detailed as Kaplan LN. jus keep doing questions and make additions/notes in ur MTB. that shud sufice in the end.

my ques is ''is MTB absolutely necessary for CK???

I mean if i only do kaplan LN as many as 3 times , still i have to do MTB or not ??????bcoz i find KLN very good and almost complete in everything.....
