Default Got my Ck score: 246 (Non US IMG)

In case this can help someone... let's see what I did:
I studied since the last week of December 2015 until March 28th 2016

- Bought MTB 2, Step up to Medicine
- UW Q bank online and self assessment
- UW biostatistics thingy (because I bombed this on Step 1)

I started studying from MTB2 and Step Up and taking notes, found out Step Up was too heavy and was going to take me forever so I focused on MTB and my notes, then on February I got a 2 month UW subscription and started taking notes to complement things from MTB2; some things are different between MTB and UW but I don't think that makes a huge difference in terms to the score you'll potentially get.

My lowest Q bank score was psychiatry so the last 2 weeks I started to read psychiatry a little more in depth (skimmed through FA Psychiatry Clerkship and Step 2 secrets Psychiatry section)

Then I focused a few days on biostatistics (I left the whole section from UWorld Step 2 CK Q Bank unanswered) then I did the UW Biostats questions and went back to the Q bank questions. I can't say it really helped me a lot because the questions in the test were hard! but that's what I did.

Took the UWSA 4 days before my test and I got a 245. Focused on the wrong answers, jotted down some final notes from the UWSA with special attention to psychiatry.

Went on to take Step 2 CK getting 246.

I guess my final words are:
- Focus on your weaknesses
- Don't trust what you read online about UWSA being inaccurate (it doesn't apply for everyone
- Have fun every now and then
- UW, UW, UW, UWORLD
- Focus on your weaknesses

[Background: I was a very average student while in med school, Step 1 220, graduated last year from a Radiology residency in my home country, I managed to have a very stable relationship ]

Hey!
Congrats on the great score! You've definitely shown improvement from step 1, which is cool.
I am just starting to prepare for CK, so your post was definitely helpful.
What specialty do you want to pursue, if I may ask? :-)

Sure, you can ask.
It depends on sooo many things.
My girlfriend is an all-American girl and I guess we will get married but neither of us wants to do it any time soon. I guess I would have to get the J1 Visa but she doesn't really want me to go back to my country for 2 years so it will be either pediatrics (without going back) or radiology (leaving her behind for 2 years).

dude, many people saying mtb2 is a wastage of time.

but according to ur experience u used it along with uworld as ur main primary source.
also many ppl only use mtb2 for med. and for the rest they use mtb3, wht do u think abt this strategy.

so did u find mtb2 helpful for step2ck?

plz say yes, cause am already halfway through with it. lol!!!

Well, I would say it's good as an introductory text to be read in a few weeks (2-4 weeks) and then put away; it isn't a GREAT material.

I feel that UWORLD is where it is at, the dynamics and flow of the questions resembled the feel of the test.

I have no idea about MTB 3.

what was your schedule like daily and what time frames did you give yourself to accomplish certain things? How many times did you go through MTB, uworld?

congrats on the score by the way. My step 1 score is the same as yours and i hope to get a step 2 score similar to yours.

Thanks! I am rooting for you, fellow scorer, for even a higher score!

Let's see: I usually started at 12 PM, 3 PM, 5PM (depending on my mood and how busy I was) then I started with pomodoro sessions (you can download any free app for this) with 4 block of 45 minutes, 5 minutes of short break and 20 minutes of long break. It really helped me getting focused because I tend to derail my train of thought too often (that happened to me for step 1)... Every now and then I took a break to have dinner and another break for a snack. I saved 1 hour every night for my lady. Then stopped studying until 12 AM, 1 or 2 AM.
It would be helpful to have better times, though. Like starting at 8 AM (I am too messy TBH) ... just want to point out pomodoro was really helpful.
I went through MTB once and UWORLD once, I only did the wrong q's from the psych section from UWOLRD twice, oh and I went through the wrong answers of UWSA twice.
I set up a schedule to finish the qbank in 7 weeks so I had to finish certain number of questions, also scheduled two "mandatory" days off for my hobbies.

I looked up that pomodoro, looks pretty cool. So let me get this straight. The only qbank u did was uworld? and you only did it once? did you use any other sources?

Yup, only did UW.
I read MTB, the pharm chapter of First Aid Psych clerkship, skimmed through some other parts. I read 1/2 of USMLE 2 secrets for the psych section. Skimmed through Kaplan's psych book.
From Secrets I read the Biostatistics part too.
I believe UW is very complete, focus on all the explanations.
The thing is that some people say their test didn't resemble UWORLD (word by word, I suppose). For me it didn't 70% of the time but the info was definitely covered by that qbank.

I think there are around 2200.
I guess it depends on how fast you are. I had a weekly quota that meant something like 35-45 questions a day. A block used to take me like 8 hours but I know some people is waaaay faster.
I divided the questions for 6.5 weeks and on the last 1.5 weeks I worked on my wrong questions from psych and the 60 something questions from biostats.
I took the UWSA 4 days before and in that day I didn't touch the q bank.
I also had some breaks (more like full days ) I needed for my hobbies.

Hey sone i just want to thank you one more time for your post. I wanted to just bother you a little more. I wanted to ask what your uworld cumulative percentage was? and did you do it random or subject wise?
