Question Repeated Swellings, Throat Tightness, Allergy!

A 26-year-old female presents to your office after 3 episodes of swelling, which she thinks may be due to allergies to some food stuff. She says that the episodes have typically lasted 1-3 days and seem to come out of nowhere, with the most recent incident occurring a few days ago when she had to go to the emergency department because of throat tightness and difficulty breathing. In the emergency room he received diphenhydramine with a corticosteroid which did not improve her symptoms but she was able to sleep and breath well after an injection of epinephrine was added. She was released from the hospital the following day. Upon further questioning the patient stated that she had had an emergency appendectomy after severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Which of the following is the most appropriate diagnosis at this time?

A. Acquired angioedema
B. Medication allergies
C. Food allergies
D. Hereditary angioedema (HAE)
