Default are 5 months ?

Hi
I am starting with my step 1 and 2ck preparation

I have 13 months to finish both so that I can apply for 2018 match

I can study 8 hrs/day.

I want an advice on how to use these 13 months for the two steps

Do you think I should study 7 months for step 1 and then 6 months for step 2ck

or Can I study 8 months for step 1 and then 5 months for step 2ck ?

Please give me advice, I am a bit confused and nervous

Thank you

I believe it is possible.
I started studying last year on March. Took step 1 on November 2015 and then step 2 on April this year. But I am a super slow learner... So I guess it's possible for any average or gifted person.

Thank you for your reply. I am a slow one too. Not SUPER slow, but not gifted one.

Did you study from November till April For CK ? Or did you have a break between the 2 steps ? How many months did you spend studying for CK and how many hours/day ?

do you advice me to give step 1 8 months and leave 5 months for CK ? or that's a risk and I should give 7 months for step 1 and 6 for step 2 CK ?

Thank you soo much for you reply. Hope more people respond and help with this issue

Everything comes down to how long you take for Step 1. if you can take 7 months you can then work on Step 2 for 4-6 months. Should have plenty of time for CK once you are done with step 1.
Are you aiming for any score in particular ?

Well the higher the score the happier I will be. I hope to get at least 240+ on both exams.

So are 5 months considered "plenty of time" for step 2 ck ?

i think it is more than enough . However if you are an old grad it is gping to be harder to review some concepts and in that particular scenario I dont know if that would be enough time .If tnats not the case you are fine even if you aim higher than 240

Do you mean by ambitious that I am taking risk if I gave step 2 Ck 5 months ? Can you elaborate more ? How much did you spend time studying for step 2 CK ?

Thank you for your reply

I studied for CK from the second week of December until the final week of April. I took some days off where I didn't study at all, other than that I studied from 5 PM until 1 AM or from 12 PM to 1 or 2 AM, it was very different every day. Since I had already studied the months prior for step 1 it was easier.

In my experience it's better to study more time for step 1, but you could check your progress with UWSA. They're pretty accurate.

And again, in my experience, 5 months are good enough for step 2 if you already studied for step 1 the months prior.

Thank you. I sincerely think it was because I didn't take such a long break after step 1 and all the info from step 1 will help you with step 2.

I wish you the best! Success!
