Question Most important in Stroke and MI Prevention

what is the most important factor that can prevent stroke ?
Smoking cessation
Statins
HTN control
DM control

also what is the most important factor that can prevent recurrence of MI?
ACEI
Statin
Aspirin
Metop

oh... the more simple a question the more difficult the answer..
according to emedicine:Hypertension is the most important modifiable risk factor for stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and the risk of stroke increases progressively with increasing blood pressure, independent of other factors..
for MI...I think it's aspirin...the others do decrease the mortality but do they prevent secondary MI?

Answer is to control hypertension and aspirin .

This is a tricky one, beta blockers are similar (or even slightly superior) to aspirin in terms of preventing death from cardiovascular causes in patients that have suffered a myocardial infarction, but most of the benefit of beta blockers is due to prevention of sudden death. So if the question is specifically about recurrence of MI, then it would be aspirin.
