abg, ecg, cxr
chest ct
v/q scan
then initiate treatment

if the patient is
1-hemodynamically stable then give heparin for 4-5 days then oral anticoagulation with warfarin for 6 months, if the anticoagulation is contraindicated then treat with inferior vena cava filter
2-hemodynamically unstable then give thrombolytics or same heparin and warfarin treatment, but if anticoagulation is contraindicated then pulmonary embolectomy or inferior vena cava filter
