A nurse has been ignoring her female cancer patient's repeated requests for care. When asked why you are not responding to the patient? the nurse replied "she wants to be left alone".
Which of the following mental defense mechanisms best explains the nurse's response?

A- Rationalization
B- Intellectualization
C- Denial
D- Projection
E- Isolation
F- Dissociation
G- Splitting
H- Repression

You are absolutely right :)
I was thinking it could be rationalization (as she's giving an excuse why she's not attending her patient) but it turns out that we should not think this way when it comes to mental defense mechanism. We should assume that she's telling her true feelings and in that case she's unconsciously moving her internal desire (she wants to rest) and projecting it onto her patient
