Default When to take Step 2????

Hey everyone,
I'm an IMG and will be applying for family medicine residency this fall.

Step 1 score is 213(1st attempt).
Passed Step 2 CS(1st attempt)

I am trying to decided whether or not to take step 2 ck right now(August) or later because I haven't been doing all that well on NBMEs. I really don't want to risk failing Step 2 CK so I want to study a bit more before taking the real thing which would probably be around mid-late September.

How late can I submit my Step 2CK score and still have a fair chance of getting interviews?

Default hi

i think better wait till you get good score in nbme, rather rushing now, because if you give exam little late , still you can apply and put on eras as direct score to the colleges, and i know chances decrease but better to do correctly then give exam in rush, and once you get the score call the colleges which you are interested and tell them i got the ck result so please consider then they may consider and send interview, that's what i am thinking, good luck

thank you for the response.
I'll probably take it in early September so I can have the score back before October. That'd be better than taking the exam right now when I'm not even ready, right?

Don't rush i was kind of in the same situation as u but i didn't feel ready for step 2 ck so i will be applying next year, better to do the best u can at the first attempt than to fail or feel that u could have done better . i think residency programs prefer quality not quantity
meanwhile i wait a year to apply i will be doing rotations and working in a clinic.
Good luck dont rush ur self and dont let the anxiety take over ur mind!!

When do residency programs start to look at the applications and send out interview invitations? October 1st? or Mid-late September?

Apparently from a week after Sept 15. It varies from program to program. But to be safe apply on Sept 15. You can always update a program via email if you get your results after Sept 15.
