Default PCOS diagnosis

I understand that not every PCOS has polycystic ovaries. However, guidelines from the Endocrine Society recommend using the Rotterdam criteria for diagnosis, which mandate the presence of two of the following three findings-hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction(amenorrhea), and polycystic ovaries.

Does anyone know why it is stated on the explanation part that ovarian ultrasound does not influence the diagnosis of PCOS? I think sono is a better answer regarding the current diagnostic criteria.
