Default Failed CK and CS, dont know what to do

Hi guys

I just found out today that I failed CK, I was planning to apply and had every document ready. I was positive I was going to pass, my last NBME was 213. I failed CS but did it again and passed. I graduated in 2012 IMG and I've been working in research. I am tired of this process, I am tired of studying and feel giving up. I was planning to apply to internal medicine and family medicine. I don't know what to do. My step 1 is 215.

I also like family therapy so I've been thinking of quitting the medical field and doing family therapy and working on that (I am allowed to work in the US). Also I am married, 30yo and been waiting to have children after residency and I feel I am stuck doing these exams, not being able to have children.

Do you think I still have a chance?

Please advise, right now I am very sad and confused.

Honestly, your chance for a match are incredibly low. I have been advised that as an IMG you NEED a score of at least 245 on Step 1 to out-compete the AMGs. Having a fail on CS/CK just makes things worse. I am not trying to kick you while you are down but you need to be aware that you are in a bit of trouble here. I am so sorry.

I would re-do the CK first. It is a very tough exam, try to use the anki cards that American MDs use as well as UWorld and MTB. The anki decks are found on reddit in the r/medicalschool forum.

I failed CK and re-did it. I got a 220. I am applying this year. Your chances are low but you're not out for the count. If you really want medicine try to do some research in your field once you have passed step 2 ck. Try to also finish Step 3.

I would also focus much more on FM than IM if I were you. Try doing many observerships in an IMG friendly FM program. IM has become a very competitive field now. All the best.
