USMLEWorld How accurate is UWSA?

Hey guys,

I took the UWSA exam and scored 252. However I have heard it isn't the best score predictor. My UWorld avg is 76% and Kaplan CK Qbank is 62%. (65% completed).
What should I do next? Which NBME should I try first? 2 or 4?
And how accurate is the UWSA score?
Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
My CK is on July,24 2012.

Thanks

hey. im in the same dilemma.

but every one i ask gives me a different answer.

some say nbme is exact predictor. while uwsa is not as reliable. and nbme 4 is most accurate.

others say nbmes for CK are outdated (the latest one ie form 4 is atleast 3-4 years old). and uwsa is much better.. cos they keep updating it more often. (something like that)

Best predictor is your UW % score (not the percentile).

UWSA & NBMEs (2 & 4) are good if taken together.

NBMEs are good predictor of your progress (in preparation)

Best will be to do 8 blocks of UW unused questions in timed random mode over 9 hours with 1 hour breaks and take the average. That will also be a good test of your stamina.

You don't need to try anything, just keep doing whatever you are doing since it is clearly working very well......... you are all set for 265+

Well, I was about to ask you for the tips but found out by reading some of you posts. I don't think you need any tips from me since I am following yours!

BTW: What Step 1 fiasco?

Default UW average??

Yes, please! The UW average correlation!!! :sorry:
And another thing. I read on some website that to get an accurate score correlation/prediction/whatever, one must add up the last 10 timed, random/mixed, unused Qs and then take that average. Because it would be useless to use the number that the overall average gives us, since we tend to improve as we go along. So, I don't know if that's the right way to do it, but seems logical to me. Any thoughts?

75% + should get you 250+ for sure but anything above 70% has a decent chance of getting 250.

It seems logical but there is no reliable data to support that. However, people have reliably correlated the overall UW % score to the actual USMLE score. Even there is a "reporting bias" since only people with high passing score tend to "report" their scores and most of the people who score low passing or fail do not report their score.

Please focus on using UW to learn from initially, dont get hung up about the score. I know ppl who got 55% on UW and got a 230+. Its about learning the concept, inside out, not just getting the question right.
Save UWSA and NBMEs for all that.

Hey guys, Going a a bit off topic but just had to post here. I have my exam in 2 weeks. I've been super nervous about it this time since my prep has been very lopsided and haphazard. The last few weeks though have been thankfully regular. I just wanted some advice on how the NBMEs correlate to the actual scores and what I could do to possibly improve my score in the next 2 weeks.
UWSA 2 weeks ago was 186
NBME 4 1 week ago was 189
NBME 2 yesterday was 204
Now I have 2 weeks, My plan was to go over the UW questions and MTB, hopefully twice. I went over some of the NBME ques and realized I had made tons of stupid mistakes in the first 2 blocks, after which I tend to give an average performance, am trying to work on that by increasing the number of questions I do.
Am planning on doing either another NBME or 8 blocks of Uworld or something back to back. (Oh, have 10% Uworld left).
Looking forward to some words of wisdom thanks!
