CT Scan Do we need CT Scan for Concussion

do patient presenting with concussion [ head trauma leading to amnesia of trauma event but NO loss of conciousness ] need CT scan ?

any other points to remember reg this topic for ck ?

yes.
all head trauma --- gets CT to rule out bleed.
besides you can diagnose it as a concussion only if the CT is normal. (not based entirely upon Clinical features)

check pg 544 MTB 2 for CK

They need CT scan and observation for at least 12 hours (cannot be discharged until pretty damn sure they dont have anything else)

Difference between concussion vs contussion is
Former CT scan normal whereas the later has signs of damage on the CT

Not ALL head trauma pt's get a CT scan but only those pt's who had LOC or altered mental status, focal neurological deficits, anisocoria.. Otherwise look for any signs of focal neurological abnormalities and observe.. Doing CT scan for everybody would be costly and unnecessary.
