USMLE Scores Exam in 2 Weeks - UWSA and NBME Score Disparity

Hi,

My test is in 2 weeks time.
I took NBME 4 on July 1st --- got a score co-relation of 210-215
took a UWSA yesterday July 13th --- got a score co-relation of 250.
over all uworld percentage (about 98% blocks done in random timed mode) --- 71%

I am super confused

1- which one do I believe? (I know none is absolutely accurate.. but still a rough estimate?)
2- does uwsa over estimate the score? (cos it did for step 1)
3- and also while doing the uwsa.. i thought the questions were really straight forward. (still made silly mistakes)
are the questions on the actual test so straight forward too?
4- they say that the best co-relation is the UWORLD percentage --- but my percentage has been that much even before I took the NBME.. but still NBME score was low ... really freaking out now!

any advice is welcome

My exam is in 2 weeks also... Can I ask if you have done any other NBMEs?
I too would like to know the answer to your question about UWSA. I've been hearing that it is the most accurate, so hopefully someone will post a response to give us their suggestion.. Good luck.

iv actually heard different reviews...
some people said it is accurate.
some said that it over estimates by as much as 20 points!

I think your UW average correlates best with your final score. It makes sense as it is the most comprehensive test (when done in random, timed mode) spread over entire syllabus of the exam. So, it is the best reflection of your overall knowledge and preparation.
In comparison, NBME and USWA are just like a box of chocolates, you don't know which one you are going to get. So, these have a lot of "luck" factor and these may or may not reflect your true potential but are useful for assessing your test taking skills.

Does your opinion of UW average correlating with the final score still stand if we did Uworld Q bank system-wise/timed instead of random/timed?

thanks a tonn for the frank advice.
i guess the best predictor is just how ready you feel at the end of all the prep (and obviously .. you scores co-relating with that)

any suggestions for what n how to be revising in the last 1-2 weeks?

Difficult to say since random mode tests your recall better than subject wise mode but it is just my opinion. As mbbs2010 said "best predictor is just how ready you feel at the end of all the prep". I believe that being confident can boost your score by 20 points (but again, I have nothing to prove that). There is nothing beating those endorphins!

Yes, go through UW marked/incorrect questions and revise your MTBs/selected topics from KLNs.
Just don't start anything new.

Also a quick flip through FA Step 1 Micro /Pharma etc might be a good idea to refresh your memory since you have already done step 1.
It helps to recruit/re-recruit every available neuron out there

You are doing good MBBS, i think youll do just fine, follow what NOvobiocin told you and dont freak out, 2 weeks is still plenty of time to revise the topics in which you sucked on both NBME's and UWSA, try to correct and correct and correct those topics again and again, but also dont forget to revise those topics which you master from time to time, cause those have to and are gonna be the "gimmes" on the exam

hey did you do kaplan q bank ???

i felt you should do another nbme before going for the real deal , i felt the single best advice my friend gave me is dont go for the exam till you have a 235 on a nbme ...... i know you might feel confident and have a 250 on uwsa but one of my friend had a 256 and 244 on uswa in step 1 but nbmes were just 225 just scored 215 ...... i know these are step1 but i guess its better to be sure , a few days of extension wont hurt ....... goodluck ahead .......
