I would say neither - it has a good chance of passing on its own with only supportive therapy (e.g. fluids and analgesia). And if there's no hydronephrosis/obstruction, then I'd definitely choose to try medical therapy (e.g. tamsulosin) before surgical intervention.
Surgery is the way to go with a stone of this size.
Not sure but read online lithotripsy isn't good enuff for stones bigger than 2cm and often the pt needs surgery even after litho... Pls correct/ affirm my reasoning... :notsure:
