Default Radiculopathy with large toe pain. What is the affected root?

Hi guys ... What is the affected root in pts with radiculopathy and large toe pain ...
is it L3/L4 or L4/L5 .. I have an illustration of dermatomes shows that both roots are involved in the innervation (sensory) of the large toe . so what would be the best answer If we had such a question.. ?
