Default Prep Help for subjects apart from IM

Hi guys

hope every one's doing great. I want to share my situation with you. I am currently in the mid of prep and have completed IM from Kaplan LN, along with videos and mtb 2, am also doing kaplan Qbank side by side.

Next I will be starting with other subjects but was concerned as now I am short of time with around 2 month left for the exam. First I had thought I Will do all videos and Kaplan LN but due to shortage of time I need advise as of which all topics should I read from kaplan and what all videos should be done. Or should I completely focus on MTB2/3 now.

Thanks

I am wondering why haven't you started UW yet? I suggest you start doing UW now and while reviewing the block write down notes from UW on your MTB 2 & 3. This will make it your own unique customized review book based on your own weaknesses.

Also, instead of doing Kaplan Q Bank do Kaplan Q Book which will help you solidify the concepts you made while reading KLNs & Videos.

You can skip on Kaplan if you don't have time but you must do UW at least twice thoroughly.

Thanks for your reply. I dont retain things when i study passively so i prefer doing questions during my first read itself. I did the same in step 1 and it helped me. Rather I thought my step 1 was more like kaplan Qbank. I prefer doing UW at the second part of my prep doing 2-3 blocks each day which helps me build up my endurance for the exam.

I know for sure that video for OBG/GYN is very helpful so I will do that but seeing the experiences of recent test takers I realised that even reading kaplan LN is not that important.........just mtb2 and 3 wud be enough. So being short of time I was thinking of how to do things now.

Also I have seen Kaplan Qbook its good though but only with half the questions as compared to Qbank. So I prefered Qbank.

Hi! I'm at the same stage of prep as you are. Our only difference is that I didn't watch the videos and I finished reading all subjects from KLN before I started kaplan qbank.

Is your exam on Nov or Dec? Coz mine is on Dec 21. Since we're at the same level of prep, it will be nice to keep each other updated.

I suggest you drop KLN and the videos. If you noticed, kaplan qbank in itself is already a good learning tool. If you're done with IM, then you only have around 1,000 questions to go (also same as me). You can easily finish those this September.

Then, read MTB + Kaplan qbank notes. Then, UW. Then, exam.

You'll finish just in time for the exam. This is currently my study plan... Good luck!

I want to end my exams by november end. I felt while reading IM from kaplan that most of the things were already in the mtb 2 so i felt i had wasted much time. Yes you are right and even i compared kaplan qbank with offline uw both banks are similar in standard and test similar concepts so i feel doing qbank will help me with UW. Also I wanted an advice since u already done wid all the kaplan once should I only continue now with mtb 2 and mtb3 along wid kaplan qbank or should i read kaplan LN too for some topics.

Good luck

Personally, I also feel that I wasted my time with ALL of the KLNs. I'm sure they are more complete than MTB, but they just miss the important points. They don't discuss in terms of "what's the best initial test", "what's the next best step", etc.

So my vote is... Yep, definitely MTB 2 or 3 along with Kaplan qbank for the rest of the subjects. Drop the KLN. Refer only to KLNs when you don't understand the topic as it is discussed in kaplan qbank, UW, or MTB.

Also, since you are planning to take the exam at the end of November, you might want to hasten or cut your kaplan qbank time short. Prioritize and give ample time for UW.
