She means that we are all tired of this kind of negative posts which help no one and look kind of stupid, if you want to know it your score is competitive try to look in the forums, look at the mean score of preovious years that got matched, etc etc etc

There are people failing these exams by the thousands, yet some people come to this forum and almost all and start complaining... hell i even see people that still dont know or understand the new 2 digit score.. i mean C'MON

i see why now alot of people with lower scores get matched better then the people with the higher scores.... alot of people with lower scores actually know how to socialize and communicate and approach something the right way in comparison to some people that have the higher scores that have absolutely no clue how to a approach situation.... they may be book smart but that will only take u so far

haha take it easy guys, you're coming down a bit too hard on a fellow USMLE taker lol

228 is a decent score that will get you into any of the mainstream residencies.

If your step 1 score is sky high (above 250) then you have an almost sure-shot of matching.

In the end, if all else fails, you always have research.

Good luck!

I guess we have two types.
1. Really really have no idea about usmle scores and their value
2. People that just want to read, oh your score is so good.

Either way, i guess people should read earlier posts, many times this topics have been discussed before

Anyways, congratulations on the score.

228 is a very good score, if you're worried about obtaining a visa with that score, then you should carefully look into the hospitals that have a high percentage of IMGs, and which hospitals are visa friendly.
Freida will have this information, or if you want to pay: matcharesident.com will give you a list of hospitals based on your scores/visa status/US clinical experience.

The score you got is competitive and will be able to land you a residency in the states at an IMG friendly hospital (if you need a visa).

Perhaps for a university program, as an IMG, people recommend having scores of 240+ but your CV is taken into consideration. I know a lot of Indian residents on visa who did not nearly get as high a score as you, and are doing residency in IM/FM.

Good luck
