Question What is the mechanism of Air Embolism ?

Since it is not like thrombus embolism nor amniotic fluid embolism...it is a strange..may you explain to me what is the mechanism ?

An air bubble enter the circulation and gets stuck into a small vessel and causing cut of blood supply

Thank you for reply Aliana....This is what I said to my doctor but he told me that the problem is not related to that cut of supply, the problem is when this air reaches heart !!
I did not understand that !!!

direct communication between a source of air and the vasculature and a pressure gradient favoring the passage of air into the circulation.

Both are possible,

Heart: the embolism causes irritation and arrhythmia
