Listening Advice after ck failed attempt

I am slowly recovering from my failed step 2 ck result. I will really appreciate any advice what to do next. I am an IMG, British citizen. I have a low score in step 1 - 196. And now a failed attempt in step 2 ck 74/195.

Brief history about my both exams, last nbme i did for step 1 predicted i get a 215 and the nbme 4 i did before ck gave me 118 and uwsa gave me 223. I dont know why im so unlucky with nbme, and theres no other way to predict exam.

Should i give up usmle? is there any chance for residency for me in even psyche or family medicine? If you think i should try again for ck then please advice what should i do different this time. I did uworld twice last time, with mtb 2 n 3 gone over fully twice and kaplan reading completely done twice and once with videos.

Dont give up.

If your dream is to work in US , then you should continue fighting for it. I think if u make sure u score VERY well on step 2 CK (250+) the second try and if u try to get some research experience or USCE , u will have a good chance to get into family medicine or psych.

Maybe you should try some video lectures. There is Kaplan High-yield step 2 ck , and DIT step 2 CK. Also if u have money and are willing to spend there is something called Kaplan step 2 CK classroom anywhere.

Thanks for your reply. I have one US elective LOR. Is Kaplan high yield step 2 ck Same as the Kaplan video lectures that follow the Kaplan books?

You're studying the right material & studying it pretty thoroughly, & performing good on the nbme's; but somehow you are unable to translate all that into a good score.

I suggest that you do a cold & thorough analysis of your method, & find out your weakness. Maybe exam day anxiety is getting in your way. Maybe your memory recall is not fast enough for a fast paced exam. Maybe there's another reason.

Sadly, no one else can analyse you better than yourself. You need to find out the problem and correct it yourself, & once you have done that, you have a guaranteed great score, & a pretty plausible chance at getting a residency.

Are you reviewing the UW questions randomly/timed? Reading every right ansld wrong answer? I think you have an overview from reading the book basics... maybe adding another online question bank (with another 2000 questions) might help (with UW again) - there is usmlerx (from first aid, written by students) and kaplan qbank that are popular - both have pros and cons... maybe others can comment - wouldn't rely on reading over and over.

Maybe you are missing the basic types of questions that UW sometimes does not cover. Again, others can share to agree/disagree/add further input. Good luck really!

I did uworld first round subject wise then second round i did random n timed. I did read every single option on first round, i think maybe my mistake was on second round i only read the ones i got wrong. Thanks i think i will start with uworld again and then pick up another qbank.

Slow down, no need to rush taking the exams since you wont be applying this year. Take your time to ensure that you pass both next time. Also you need to start getting some USCE too within the next year. You can still match, but will def have to pass CS and CK 2nd time around.
What part of CS did you fail?
What was your score and preparation for CK, did you take the NBMEs or UWSA?
The big problem you have is needing a visa, which will hinder how much time you have to do USCE.
