Default Score

Score was 235/82.

Was expecting more but was close to what i should i have got.
NBME 4 - One week before 230.
Uworld questions - 72-73%
U world self assessment- 230 - 2 weeks before.

Well i studied for a month and a half.
used primarily MTB 2 and First aid new edition.
Used u world as the only question bank.

I think that i could have scored more if i had studied for like 2 weeks more, but i was in a hurry to finish my steps to be eligible to sit for the 2013 match.

Default my experience

first of all,im really glad im done with the waiting..

preparation-roughly 3 months.

exams taken

uw percentage-70%

immediately after completing uworld took uswa-244(3 weeks ago)
did not like the score too much cuz uwsa over predicted few of my friends
scores.studied for another week then,

took nbme 4-225

did kaplan q bank -72%(did only 70 % or something)
went through everything again-my uworld notes and kaplan qbank notes, then

Free 150 questions-87%

3 days later
NBME 3-239

took the exam 2 days later..

EXAM DAY-horrible experience,i was marking like 10 -15 questions in all blocks and in the first block i almost ran outta time..and time was never an issue for me at all previously.
rushed the other blocks a bit, completed in 40 mins flat, went through marked completed in 15 mins.
EXAM is MUCH MUCH harder than fred or uwsa or nbme, atleast i felt that way.
questions were very vague..not like uworld at all. uworld is more precise.
Dont worry about drug ads, prob the easiest questions they are.Abstracts are a pain though.
anyway walked out like i was gonna fail the exam

but real deal 242/84,mixed feelings, but right now im happy

I have a question. DO you think MTB with UW was enough to answermost of the questions? because im hating every sentence of KLN and planning to skip it.
Thanks

I started out reading kaplan and i was getting bored and i guess i really didnt have the time to go thru kaplan.

I would say go through kaplan surgery and ethics and biostats. Thats best given in kaplan.

As for OBGYN and peads, kaplan is a drag, i would recommend uworld and first aid.

hope this helps

I have a question: What about MTB 2CK/MTB 3 for Peads, OBGYN instead of using first aid? Did you use the latest edition for first aid?

to be honest i didnt go through MTB 2 or MTB 3 for peads and OBGYN.
Lot of my friends did that and they found it helpful. But i am a big fan of first aid. I prefer that book over any other book. Plus i was more inclined towards first aid as they just came out with their latest edition, which was the one that i used
