Info

I don't think the month in which you take the exam has anything to do with your probability of getting 99.

Your performance is not compared to students taking the exam at the same time. It's compared to a standardized scale with a mean and standard deviation that is calculated from student performances over the last six months and some people say it's standardized over all times which means if you take your exam in 2010 or 2015 you'll get the same level of difficulty in getting 99.

The 99 score is not a percentile, for further detailed analysis of this issue read this How USMLE Scores are calculated?

The best way of knowing what score you'll get is by doing NBME self assessment exam and to know which form is best see this Best NBME Form for USMLE Step 2 CK

Since you've got 99 in Step 1, it's highly likely that you'll also get 99 in Step 2 CK with adequate preparation see this http://www.usmle-forums.com/general-...-gradient.html to know why.

This gets argued a lot

I still contend that it matters what testing pool you are in, since the weight of number of correct answers will affect the scores from that pool.

I have already seen altered test scores and changes related to testing pools performance the past month or 90 days, The NBME seems to make sure a certain percentage passes each time.

So if you take it with a lot of 99's taking it I think less of the 75's pass if you know what I mean.

the 3 digit score changes not the two digit score, yet what 3 digit score makes a 99 and how they decide your 3 digit score is a mystery only the NBME knows, no one out there has been able to tell us.
