Kids Child with Optic Atrophy and Globoid Cells!

A 12 months old presents with with irritability, fevers, limb stiffness, seizures, feeding difficulties, vomiting, and slowing of mental and motor development. Examination shows muscle weakness, spasticity, deafness, optic atrophy, & optic nerve enlargement. Further testing reveals multinucleated globoid cells.

Which one of the following is likely to be increased in this patient:

A. glucosylceramide
B. ganglioside
C. Sphingomyelin
D. ceramide trihexoside
E. galactocerebroside
