Psyche Generalized Anxiety Disorder best initial therapy!

GAD> best initial therapy ?

buspirone
psychotherapy.


same for body dysmorphic disorder ... is it SSRI or sychotherapy ?

I believe best initial therapy is SSRI's, Buspirone can also be given as well!
According to MTB 2 the best initial therapy is with drugs, psychotherapy is second line.

For Body Dysmorphic disorder Psychotherapy is the treatment of choice because the source of the problem is psychological (and that applies to all Somatoform disorders as well)

bro, according to mtb3, psychotherapy is inital and drugs are second for GAD !
for BDDisorder, mtb3 says SSRI high doses are best inital therapy.

what to do now ?

Treatment depends on the associated conditions.

GAD without impairment of daily functioning>> CBT

GAD with impairment of daily functioning, Phobia>> Buspirone, Pregabalin since they act immediately

GAD with depression (commonly associated)>> SSRIs

Remember, for exam purposes:

CBT is the first line non-pharmacological treatment.

SSRIs the first line pharmacological treatment.
