Smile Gagan Step 2 CK Experience

People,

I have been on this forum for sometime. Did my exam in the 1st week of November. It was much tougher than I expected it to be. It's just about the 'educated guesses' you make. To be honest, I was in shock after coming out of the examination hall as I didn't know how it went. I did decent and got 228. Not that great but just wanted to share my experience as this site has been of great help to me.

I put in 5-6 months of preparation for it. I did Kaplan CK notes, Uworld and a bit of Qbank, MTB2 + MTB3. The most important question for me when I was starting my prep was whether I should go for UWorld or Qbank. I did U world fully and 50% of Kaplan. UWorld is mostly sufficient. QBank just helps you in practicing lengthy questions. Some of the concepts on Qbank are over the top and you'll be left scratching your head.

Main thing is time management in the exam. Leave the drug abstract questions for the end. They are usually clumped together (2or3). They are not that tough and you just need to take a deep breath before you do them coz its basic English and you just need to read carefully.

One advice which I'll give to everyone is to read the last line of the question first before you real the full q. Helps you in understanding the question better.

That is it from my side then. If there are any questions, feel free to ask.

Good luck to you all

Congrats and thanks for sharing.... What was your UW overall %? DId you take any NBMEs or UWSA? If so, what was your score?

Default how about your step1?

hey gagan, i did my exam on the 22nd november, it was pretty hard finishing the blocks as well, had almost no time reviewing my flagged qus, anyways, when i read your experience, i was like, mine is just as same, and my questions to you are " did u improve on your step 2 as compared to your step 1 score?" and " where u expecting a higher ck score?". i tried to isolate myself from my upcoming ck score but it's kinda impossible.

I used U World as a learning tool. Used to get around 60-70% on that. Found Kaplan QBank much more tougher compared to U World. QBank has some really good info especially in Surgery but some things are way over the top. Took NBME 4- That was 224.
N I hear you Naruto. When I came out of the hall, I didn't know how it went. I was pretty sure after my step 1 that I'll pass but this time I had no idea.
As I said, it's just impossible to predict your score on this exam.
Just make sure you don't mark more than 10 questions as you won't get time to go back and recheck.
As for drug abstracts questions, these are just 2 or 3 questions about some drug trial which was conducted somewhere and they ask you stuff from the info provided. Pretty simple. You just need to read it carefully as its pretty long
