Question 207 on CCSSA Form 4?

Hello everyone.

This NBME CCSSA has really confused me.

The UWSA I gave a month ago was really difficult for me, and I felt the questions were quite "not straightforward". I scored 201 on that and that was 3 months to my exam. Since then I studied my Kaplan books and my USMLEWorld QBank.

Yesterday, I took this CCSSA Form 4 test, and I felt that the questions were really easy! They were simple. And I scored 207 on that. Now there are 2 things that concern me:
1) It was so easy, and I knew almost everything, I should have got better than this. But that's okay, since I was feeling sleepy and many things I did incorrectly which I knew.
2) I have seen MANY other threads where people get 240, 250 on UWSA and 210 on Form 4. In my case, it is just the opposite. Low on UWSA and higher on CCSSA.

Another thing. I have 2 months left for my exam. What more should I do? The Kaplan books and Qbank is fine to score something decent (230+), right?

@Kas123: I don't think I'll be going for FA because I feel it is a very difficult task to start off with another entirely different book with just 2 months left. I remember the Step 1 FA, you had to learn every single word to score something good using it.

You are making improvements and that is the most important thing. There is no magic bullet to score high, I think all the boks out have there advantages and disadvantages no doubt. I will be posting my exam experience later today when I get a free minute, just haven't had the time with rotations going on. I think Kaplan books and Uworld are fine as long as you are getting into the details of them and really spending a lot of time.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll be looking forward to your experience.

BTW, what did you feel about UWSA and CCSSA? Which one was easier for you and which one difficult (if at all)?

First of all you are stressing to much and putting a lot of emphasis in a score rather than in learning.

I have noticed several mistakes you have done..

First, not going through MTB seriously.. what is wrong with you? if you want a good score everything you study and read you have to do it seriously.

My advice: Grab MTB and study it hard.. repeat UWorld qbank and read all the explanations carefully and annotate IN MTB on the respective chapter.

You have to do this in at least 3 weeks.

For the following 5 weeks subscribe to another qbank, I personally liked kaplan qbank, again do it with careful attention and re reading the respective chapters on MTB, by this time you shold have done at least 3 reads of MTB, this one being the 4th, and then give an NBME again.

Study hard if you want to score higher, there is no magic formula for this

:O :O
See, I didn't like MTB that's why I didn't do it. People around me keep telling me it is bad so I didn't do it, and I found it to be confusing. Every single person I ask tells me Kaplan and Uworld is enough. And now Kas123 told me to do FA, and you say MTB. I'm confused. Seriously.
I did everything but MTB seriously. I have been studying really hard.

And my extra emphasis on score is because in Step 1, I scored very bad (194), and I don't want to ruin everything now, I'm an IMG.

Do not get stressed or lose hope that is number one. Secondly there are many books, and I have many friends who have used step up some who use MTb some who used first aid. The book does not make them score well, it was the fact they knew the book cold, new all the details in and out. The thing everyone who studied shared was attention to detail in what ever resource we used and also '

doesn't mean it's the best for u. Main thing is countless hours. If you are studying 7 hours a day bump it to 10-12 hours. You score will go up. Sleep is over rated anyway. I am an IMG so I understand your pressure. In today's day an age a score under 200 on step 1 like you have is troublesome so it's essential you score higher. My advice is get off these forums for now and spend all of you waking time studying. Get Kaplan q bank and usmle ex and make sure u score high. And do u world multiple times. Don't listen to any negativity, believe in yourself. You will get a great score!!!!

I studied from both MTB and Fa and I liked MTB better, it is a matter of perspective.. but that depends on WHAT YOU LIKE, not what others are telling you, grab advices with a grain of salt and try to adapt any knowledge you acquire here to you own style..

Pick one or the other according to what suits you the most, not to what others tell you.. and stick with it.

See, I don't want to leave any gaps unfilled, so I guess since tomorrow, I'll be starting to do MTB. Followed by Uworld+MTB, just like XpaezX said. I only have one thing left in my mind.

EDIT: --nevermind--

What's better to do? MTB in and out, or FA in and out?

Please pardon my ignorance. I really have no one who can properly guide me here.
Just pick the one that seems best to you. All the books have plus and minus. Stop worrying about anyone's guidance. You need lots of hours in the books. Which ever one u choose. U world alone can get you a high score if u know every word inside and out.

REALLY, thanks both of you.
I'll go through both now, and see which one I'm comfortable with.

It is a mistake to do UWSA before mastering UW. UWSA is very dependent on concepts present in UW. I did not do MTB, I did only Kaplan books. I read in a post that someone read blueprints, there is no right or wrong in what sources you should read, choose the book that best suits you and study it seriously, after that focus on UW concepts and study every word of it, most of my exam was dependent on UW concepts, so if you study UW seriously and understand every word of it, you should be doing fine

Thanks. Now what I'm going to do is MTB+UW as much and as many times as I can, with every single detail, and then take an NBME after another month.
