USMLEWorld How long does it take to do u world for step 2 ck?

I finished step 1 and now Im studying for step 2 ck using kaplan videos, First aid for step 2 ck and MTB step 3.

How much time do you guys think I have to allocate to do Uworld (two times) if I study 5 hours a day?

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks in advance.

Info 2 Months

Attempting the questions should take you a month. I would suggest you to go through the questions more than twice, since UWorld is really important. Start with a 2 month subscription.

Good luck!

Hard to say how long it really depends on how fast you move and how well you retain. Most important is that you read thoroughly and retain, doing q's just to get them will not yield enough for you. It took me about 2 weeks to do the uworld bank (14-15 days exactly) however I studied for 12 hours a day. The second time through I finished the bank alot quicker. Keep in mind if you have a 2 month subscription you will have to buy another one if you want to start over again (uworld wont reset the bank for you). If you buy a 6 month subscription they give you the option of resetting the bank one time. Good luck!!!! Not sure what your schedule is like and how much time you have but I would sugest more than 5 hours/day if you only have a short time, the exam is challenging.

Thank you very much Kas for the encouragement. I have no time constraints (However Im planning on applying for the next match) and will try my best to study around 12 hours a day.

I don't know if I'm supposed to be telling this here or not, but life will get much easier with Windows 8.

Keep marking parts in UWorld and Windows Key + PrtScr will save the screenshots automatically in My Pictures/Screenshots.

I know people who screen capture that is how the offline notes were created I am assuming. For me personally I typed the notes in my own words kept them to 2-3 sentences per concepts high yield. The process of typing them in my own words helped me solidify the ideas. Totally up to you but in the end I had a nice document that was short, concise and in my own words. A few others on here recommended doing this, I read there posts before taking my exam and they all had high scores. I'm sure there are many ways to annotate from u world this worked best for me

Thank you so much Ali for the information. It must have been so easy making notes that way......

Ali, Kas and others, how have you been doing? Can you tell me if just re reading the Uworld notes are enough or do I have to redo the Uworld questions and explainations? Thanks in advance.

Just reading. does. not. help. at. all. period. I did uworld in two months and then took an NBME. barely passed. So now I am down to business memorizing every explanation. I made notes too but turns out I suck at making them and I couldn't understand the gibberish that I wrote but luckily I have all of it offline.

I read MTB 2 once, before doing Uworld.
Answering all of the questions took me 5 weeks but I barely studied on weekends.
I did 4 blocks which were untimed, unused, random.
Then I answered it by subject, till i finished 75% of the questions for that subject.
Then for the remaining 25% i did it random.

I know of people who finished uworld in 3 weeks. Then went over the marked/wrong questions in 1 week.

Goodluck!
