if anyone should be still be interested in this topic.
I got a 260 in step 2, without having prepared for or taken step 1. I had been working for 1.5 years after graduating from med school in my country, and thought that taking an exam that would ask about what I was doing everyday would be easier than going through basics I had learned and forgotten 7 years earlier.
My prep time was about 5 months Oct 2012-Feb 2013, - Kaplan lecture notes for theory, plus MTB

Sharad Chandra, Pretest/Lange/Harrison MCQs subjectwise,
First Aid, USMLE samples, Lange, Pretest, NBME, Elsevier Question sets - used to allocate a day, usually once a week, where I would do 8 blocks at a stretch, as if taking the real thing.

luckily for me, my exam got postponed by 2 weeks due to technical reasons. During those 2 weeks I went through most of UWORLD questions, may be got through half of them.

Test Day: March 14 2013
After taking the exam, I did not know how I had done, because there are so few direct questions, and you can only be sure that you got them right or wrong for about 5-10 questions in a block.

Anyway, for me, it was mostly working experience regarding what is the next best step questions... and reading up on the basis behind what we did everyday....
Besides that, it was doing a lot of MCQs
I did not read First Aid, short notes and tables don't stick in my head... I need paragraphs and elaborate lengthy explanations....

Recently took my Step 1, don't think I will get anywhere near 260... I just hope it is above 240.
