ok my prep

i started preparing in May 2011 -October 2011 .... ( but it was for another exam ) i did one read of kaplan Lecture notes + one round of U WORLD ... then took the exam and i did pretty well
-then i started my internship in Jan 2012 finished 2 months back and secured a residency position in my home country .
-and restarted preparing for the step 2 CK 2 months ago ... i felt that it will be difficult for me to start with Kaplan books so i subscribed in Kaplan Q bank finished it 8 days ago ( untimed - subjectwise )
-now reviewing the lecture notes ( or trying to review the notes ..... and it's killing me ) i will subscribe in U World in a couple of days hoping to finish it in 35-45 days and then take an NBME and UWSA and then .... take the exam

oraiby, what do you think about kaplan Q books?
does it really full of low yield subjects or it helps memorizing kaplan LNs?

because I am thinking of doing it to consolidate my memory before doing uworld but I read alote of people saying it has alote of minor sujects, not releated to exam, etc

If anyone has an input about kaplan Q bank please reply

i didn't attempt doing the kaplan book ... but if you mean kaplan q bank ,well it depends on your time and your aim
for me i found that it's very helpful ( true that it's full of low yeild topics ) it helped me learning some of the key concepts .... and i found that it may be the same or better than U world in surgery , some branches of internal medicine ,and OB and Gyne is also very good.
so to cut it short if you are hard worker and you have time to do it with out compromising the time you are dedicating for the U world then go for it,but if it's going to affect the U WORLD preparation DON'T DO IT , but keep in mind that without doing it ( if u master the U World you still can get 245+ and even 260+ )

Actually it's becuz i feel that my clinical informations are recent , further more i had to start preparing with step 2 as i was involve in another exam with similar stydy materials .

but my advice if you have time , and your ultimate goal is just the USA .... go with the logical sequence ,step 1 followed by step 2 ,as while studying and solving the u world questions i found that there are some areas where you may need a little understanding of the pathophysiology of certain disease processes , step 1 will definetely help you with your step 2 studying and vice versa
