Listening Reality check after low step 1 scores

Hi,
I am in my final year of med School in India..
Passed Step 1 in Oct 2012 with 206/78..far below expectations!

Really interested in going forward and completing the steps and getting a residency in Peds..
Just need a reality check? Is it possible for me to get a residency after such dismal results.. If yes, what should I be looking at to improve my chances??

Please help..

its good that u're done with your step 1..u can give ck right after ur final year is over i.e in the early months of internship..by that tym all your final year knowledge wud be fresh and it'll be quite easy for you to get over with ck in 3-4 months..and then decide the future depending upon your ck score..if it jumps like 30-40 points u'll be on the safe side i guess..and it wont be that hard getting 240 plus soon after the final year..good luck with your preparation..

yeah..its not totally essential but we do read a lot of medicine n surgery ,obs gyn n peds ,so the knowledge is fresh..you find the subjects to be easier and it definitely takes less time in the first reading..am actually talking about the time that can be saved,,of course ultimately we all have to do uworld to get a decent score..
