Info Part 1 score - 255; Part 2 - probably failed

Hi Everyone,

I'm here to seek some advice. I am not a medical student by a far stretch of the imagination. Rather, I'm a PhD, and I am here to seek advice regarding my fiancee's plight. My fiancee is an IMG who took Part 1 and got a 255 in it. However, she took part 2 today and said that she only managed to complete half of the exam before being stricken by a panic attack which mentally crippled her to the point that she had to leave. She is exceedingly smart (look at her part 1 score) but after her part 2 ordeal she is literally destroyed. I wanted to inquire that what are her chances of getting into a residency program into the US if she retakes part 2 and does really well in it. Will she still get into a residency program here. The other concern is that she is an IMG and I am a permanent resident in the US. I will soon be getting my US citizenship after which I can sponsor her and she will immediately be a permanent resident. Will this move enhance her chances of getting into residency because she would then be eligible to apply to almost any hospital. Please can someone advise regarding what she should do after going through such an ordeal. I will be immensely grateful to you all for your suggestions....

Having an incomplete or failed attempt in any of the steps does count against you significantly but it does not make it impossible to match. I think what you should do is sponsor her and bring her to the US ASAP so she can start working there and gain some US Clinical Experience. That will work in her favour and possibly offset her CK attempt.
And yes, being a permanent resident and not having to worry about visa requirements and issues goes some way in making it easier to match as well.

Good luck,
Cherry Blossom Girl.

she still has fairly good chances and yes being a permanent resident should help her. She should try to get USCE for as long as possible.

Don't listen.
American students say
that incomplete attempts
are neutral to ur application
She must explain what happened
in her personal statement
not a big deal if she was sick.
and is not the same as failed attempt
which is a red flag.
But if ur fiances report says
failed, then things will get tough.
