I felt it was a weird and crazy exam.. I had 44 - 46 questions on each block and I barely managed to finish before time ran out each time.. no time to review at all.. except the last block.. 28 questions and pretty easy questions too... I wish questions were more evenly distributed... I would have given anything for a chance to review some questions on the 4th and 5th block...

To answer your question.. I was short of time on the 5th block as the questions were pretty long.. I feel I could have done a lot better if I had more time.. 5th block is also aroound the time when I first started feeling fatigued... so yeh it was kinda more difficult all factors considered but not particularly so because of the questions per se..

I'm not really sure.. I almost always ended up with 2 almost similar answers then finally picked the best from those 2... only about 25 questions per block that I was sure I had the right answer...

Congratulations on the great scores, geo and sandal. Please do share your prep and exam experience. What was your Uworld first time percentage and how did you do on your assessments?

I started prep by reading Kaplan lecture notes. After 1 reading I began UW side by side with MTB2 (all) and MTB3 (all except IM) . I jotted notes into MTB2 and used this as my primary reference.

UW - random timed - 70% , 2nd round 85% (incomplete)
3 weeks before exam UWSA -221

I found the exam taxing because of the length of the questions and the duration of exam. UW and MTB are good sources for prep I feel.

I am an average student and am happy with my score. I always got scared seeing astronomically high scores in this forum and wondered where a mere 221 NBME would land me... If your feeling like that now.. Don't loose heart.. its doable!! work hard , improve on your weak subjects and you will do just fine!!

Happy to answer any questions..Good Luck to all!!

Thanks for the reply, geo82. Can I ask what percentage of UW did you complete the second time through? Also, how many times did you go through MTB overall?

Default advice plzz

Hii,

I got my ck score of 231. I felt exam was very tough and ran out of time in many of the blocks.
My step-1 score is also 231.can anyone tell me are these are good scores for IM residency?

I did about 25 blocks.. so I guess around 1000 questions 2nd time.. that included all my marked and wrong questions and some others...

MTB ..hmmm..several times... each new revision I had several "Aha!!" moments.. at least 3-4 times if not more.. If you retain information well maybe you don't need so many passes..

Its about getting the concept right... not just mugging info.. I mean not like biochem cycles... more like understanding the topic well... if your confused between 2 similar conditions ..your will get screwed for exam... those similar cases will be in the options..
