Default Step 2 ck books:which set to choose?

Hi, I recently passed step 1 and now i am preparing for step 2 ck. I want to take it in the December 2013. So I started from kaplan lecture notes(2011 edition, purple one) and kaplan video lectures(2007 I believe), plus kaplan qbank online for the first time. I'll going to finish first read in the beginning of June. I want to change my reading source from kaplan to either MTB2/FA(8 edition) or MTB2/MTB3, both fulfilled with Uworld online. The question is I don't know which one to choose? I read a lot of threads from step 2, where people said that FA isn't so good, but it is considering older editions. Do they improve? Please guys give some advice!

mtb 3 is really good in my opinion...but it wont harm if u can go through the tables and figures of FA..i am saying mtb 3 because it is easier to retain than FA since the format and presentation in both is given in the same way ..and yeah the 8th edition is good..i think this same question was asked in some other thread also..moreover, since u'll be reading Kaplan it wont make much difference whether u read mtb3 or FA..but personally I think do the tables n side notes in FA -its all high yield stuff..good luck with your prep
