Unhappy need help for high step 2 ck score

Hi guys unfortunately I have a very low score on step 1 , I had scored 220 plus on nbme an uwsa but my score came as 198. A big blow for me..dont know what really happened on the test day. I know its really tough for me now , have to score very high in step 2 ck and step 3 for any chance of getting a spot. any advice on how to tackle step 2 ck for a very high score . am fresh from step 1 , do I need to go through kaplan notes or just go with MTBS and uworld. any advice on what to do with this low step 1 score also..

Unhappy some update

Hi ,so many views and no reply? does this mean that I don have a chance for any residency, am aiming for psy at the moment, As an IMG do we have to do anything extra from other specialties to get a spot in psychiatry ?

Well, Xpan, I'm sorry to say that I think it's going to be pretty tough to get a decent residency with that score. I am assuming you are an IMG.

If I were you, and determined to give the match a shot regardless of my score, I'd rack up a good deal of USCE, get some publications, and not attempt the CK until reasonably confident of a score on the right side of 240.

Good luck!

240+ on both steps would be safe for IMG's?

Thanks trickster, am planning the same as u said, but wat did u refer as a decent residency spot ? Is psy too difficult with this score if I score big on step 2 ? does step 3 score count if I improve in that too ?
