Default Nouman's Step2CK Experience:231:

In the name of God, most Gracious, most Compassionate

Time- September to May (why I took so long is a whole different story)

Study Material

MTB 2 for Med, MTB 2+3 for rest of the subjects
Kaplan Neuroanatomy step 1 (spine, cortex, cranial nerves, neurological diseases= did really good in neuro in CK= My report is indicative of that. Strongly recommend doing it)
Kaplan Biostats (Hate this fking subject )
Immunological and Glycogen storage diseases= Read it from Kaplan Step 1 Biochem= Had lots of questions from this topic= DO NOT FORGET TO READ IT>> heavily tested

Study Methodology:

First read- MTB+Uworld subjectwise (september till december)--average Uworld score was 70% << DID this read half heartedly!
2nd Read- Uworld online random timed mode for two months(Completed it in Feb)--average uworld score was 75%
NBME 1- 1st March- NBME 1 offline- 225
MTB(completely crammed it in March)
NBME 2- 31st March- NBME 2 Online- 225 <<<<<<<<<<<< Cramming MTB should give you this score
3rd Read- 1st April till 25th April ( UWORLD Offline only)
4th Read- 5 days- UWORLD offline >>>>revision of highlighted portions
Final Read- 6 days- Complete MTB + UWORLD highlighted portions
1 day before exam- Paeds+Gynae/Obs/ Surgery/ Biostats Selected topic Revision
Exam Day= 8th May,2013

Assessment:

NBME 1= 225,
NBME 2= 225

Its predictive. But I did not care about NBMES afterwards. The scores had an adverse effect on me. I got disappointed after NBME 1 and 2. So, I choose not to attempt anymore of these. I had already bought UWSA but I gave it to a friend! If I had taken another NBME, I would not have been able to attempt my exam on 8th May. And I did not want to miss this year's match too. May seem like a mistake to you but I am very happy with this choice.

Real Exam=231(increased 6 points because of uworld revision) - I was hoping for 240+ but I am very satisfied and happy with my scores!!

Exam Day:

• I wrote down my mnemonics for Immunization schedule, CAD and CAD risk Equivalents, GCS scale during the tutorial time. Took me 8 minutes. (was unlucky not to get a single question where I can use this stuff :P ). But I totally recommend that you use the tutorial to write down few things which you forget easily.

• Block 3= I wanted to revise since I had 4-5 minutes. I accidently pressed the END BLOCK button and I was Like WTF. I had marked like 15 Questions in that block- A blunder! Yes!!

• Some blocks had 45, others had 46 question. My last block was the easiest and it had 32 questions.

Research questions and Ad Questions were very easy

• I did not drink any Energy drinks or ate too much. But I was so full of energy. I did not feel tired. I was content when I left the Exam center. went home.. Prayed and Thanked Almight ALLAH for his help.

• One thing is for sure. It is a very tough exam! You need to revise uworld over and over again. 50 percent of the stuff came from uworld. I did it more than 3 times. So can you!! It helped a lot !!

My mistakes during prep:

• Should not hv taken so long to give CK. A focused study is better. step 2Ck is Doable in 3-4 months. Study hard for couple of months instead of dragging it for too long.

• MTB and UWORLD do not cover everything.

My Advice

• Dont forget to remember the rarest things about the commonest diseases and the commonest things about rare disease(eg NF 1 > Optic Glioma)

• Should have attempted at least one more question bank like Kaplan Qbank.
• Never compare yourself with others. If you are an average student, admit it. Work Harder!! Remember Things never remain the same. Hopefully we will be laughing at ourselves for taking too much stress on our scores 10 years from now. Life can never be defined by numbers!! Life has some high and low notes and then it makes a perfect symphony. One day, You and I will have a good time. You are still struggling and you are sacrificing a lot. Your patience is running low. But you will be satisfied soon. Have some Faith!!
You are gona get whatever Almighty God has written for you. Ask for his Forgiveness and stay satisfied with everything he gives you.

In the end I would like to thank some people. Thanks to my family ,Umair Majeed(The guru), Saad and all my friends for the support. I was in a really bad shape and if it wasn't for you guys, I would have quit everything. Thank you so much!!

Since I cant tell you what actually came in the exam. Let me give you an example. If you study crohns disease, you gota know everything. Eg. How is it different from Ulcerative colitis? I mean you cant tell in the real exam that it crohns or UC(though covered in MTB/UW but the questions were very hard and different). Some of the questions were way too confusing and advanced.Another example, You need to "learn" acid base disorder which means that you should know the mixed acid base disorders too.

I was a bit nervous in that block. I dont know what happened but I clicked on the mouse to highlight. I pressed it again becz it did not highlight the portion which i intended to highlight. A small window appeared. then pressed okay without reading it.Shocked to see that I ended the block. I dont care whether it would have gotten me higher scores or no.it could have helped me get extra marks lol. But I should have tried to b careful.
