Smile vishwareddy Step 2 CK Experience : 264

Hi guys, this forum has helped me a lot in my prep, so I thought I should post my experience as it might benefit some of the future test takers

Prep time: 3-4months

Materials used: Kaplan lecture notes, Kaplan videos, MTB 2 & 3

UW Qbank Score: 80% 1st time random, timed mode. Did UW twice

Nbme 2 : 256(590) 3 wks before exam
Nbme 4: offline 16 ques wrong 15days before exam

Actual Exam:

I didn't study the day before exam so I was very much relaxed when I reached my test center. I prepared myself that my exam was going to be long and tough.

Exam was very much doable. Nothing out of the world.
Don't believe anyone who is saying step2 ck is getting harder.
Ques were mostly similar to UW in length and concept wise, the longest were psych ques.

First 3 blocks were easy, 4&5 were terrible ( hardest of all ) , last 3 blocks were ok as well.

I got 43-45 ques in all the blocks except the last block which was 28.

Lot of xrays, derma pictures, 4 EKG's but most of them were easy.

Drug Ad's 2 extremely simple, 1 abstract with 3ques, 2 of them were ok. Don't waste your time for these, UW is more than enough.

My Tips:

1) Don't waste time memorizing any stuff, step2 ck is all about applying your concepts.

2) If you have less time, you can confidently skip Kaplan lecture notes , as I felt UW covers each and every part needed for the exam.

3) If you feel you are running out of time while doing UW blocks, you can use the highlighting feature to highlight imp clues in the question stem, that way you might not have to read the entire ques again and again. This actually saved me alot of time during the exam, so I had plenty to review my marked ones.

Feel free to post any queries.

Awesome score. Would you mind telling us how many murmurs did you get and how were various topics in your test..? And also the specific subjects where MTBs and Uworld you thought would not suffice. Also how close was the real deal to NBME? Thank you very much. Good luck with the rest of the journey.

thanks, to be exact my exam was similar to the free 150 q's on usmle website. I believe NBME's are old, but they give you an idea about your progress. As for everyone IM was the most, but the hard ones were the psych ques(my weakest area), they really psyched me. Biostats doable. Ob/gyn very easy, Surgery ques were tricky but very few. Same concepts were tested again and again, so be thorough with each and every topic.

Thank you so much. Just one more question. How did you go through u-world the second time ? Did you read all the explanations ( of other options) again or just skimmed through it ? Congrats again on the great score.

What's your UWSA score? What do you mean in your first tip? Please give an example of the stuff we do not need to memorize.
Thank you and Congratulations!
