Warning! Explanation of this sentece in colon cancer screening !

Colonoscopy should be performed every 10 years in patients
≥ 40 years of age who have a first-degree relative with
colorectal cancer or adenomatous polyps, or 10 years prior
to the age at diagnosis of the youngest family member.


First aid step2 CK 7th ed. P.168

I cant understand the highlighted sentence ,what it mean ??

Example: A first degree relative was diagnosed with colon cancer at age 45. Screening should begin at 35.

Example: a first degree relative was diagnosed at age 55. Screening should begin at 40.

So, either start screening at 40, or 10 years before. Whichever is earlier.
